Battle of Yorktown and Treaty of Paris

Page history last edited by Megan 1 yr ago

General Cornwallis of the British, made a big mistake coming down to Yorktown. The Chesapeake Bay was blocked by the French and the land escape was blocked by the troops. The British had to surrender. On October the 19, 1781 the British finally surrendered! The patriots had won the war! That was the longest war in American history!

The Treaty of Paris was signed two years later not allowing the British inside the new nation’s boundaries. The boundaries stretched from the Great Lakes, Atlantic Ocean, Mississippi River, and the northern borders of Florida. This meant the Americans became free.
