The Dred Scott Decision

Dred Scott was a slave. His owner was a doctor and they traveled all over the U.S. When his owner died, Dred Scott wanted to be freed. He took his case to court. Since he lived in a free state before, Dred thought he should be freed. He took his case all the way to Supreme Court. Since Dred was a slave to begin with, the judge said he had no business being a free man.
