Ferdinand Magellan

                  Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer that wanted to find a better route to the Spice Islands.  When he told the king his idea, king of Portchegul didn't like it.  So after about ten tries he went to spain and tried it thier. Thier king  of spain did like it did like the idea and he gave Ferdinand 270 ilders and criminals. Magellan didn't know they were ilders and criminals. The king also gave Magellan 5 ships with those ilders and criminals.             After Ferdinand set sail from Spain he ment to go west only but he went south-west and almost crashed into Argentina, SA. After he went around Argentina he went durectly west for about 11,000 miles and went north-west for 8,500 miles until he got to lot's of islands. After about 1,500 miles west again they met a group of ships and got in a huge war. During the war 50 peaple of magellans crew died from desieses and poisonos stalks. Magellan ordered 15 of his men to attack on thier boat. They all died but they killed 23 english men.

             Magellan died after two years of sailing. It was the spring of 1521. 18 of him men made it back to spain but he didn't make his goal. He and his crew still got cretited for circling the world. They were the first people ever to do it. His crew made it back to spain in 1522. When thay got back to spain every body wanted to see the capton magellan. So the crew had to  tell the sad story that magellan got hit with a poisonos arrow in his foot in the war in 1521 in the war agenst the indeans.
