The Stamp Act
In the Stamp Act the king taxed the colonist on newspapers, almanacs, pamphlets, all kinds of legal documents, insurance policies, licenses, and even playing cards. Sometimes Boston was so angry they would form mobs and throw stamp agents in to the bay. Other agents were told to leave or be burned or hanged in effigy. Agents homes were also damaged. The Stamp Act Congress was a meeting of James Otis and 25 other men talking about the Stamp Act. Nine colonies sent representatives.
