                             Victories at Trenton and Princeton

After losing battles in Long Island, Manhattan, White Plains, and New York many men where leaving without permission, George Washington knew he had to do something bold and daring. Washington’s continental army was getting cold, they didn’t have any food and we’re getting tired. On the day they were setting up the camp it was in Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River it was after dark on Christmas Eve December 25, 1776.Quietly they traveled through the dangerous ice packed Delaware River. It took them many trips to get to the other side. It was nearly 4 am when they we’re to attack at the dawn. They quietly marched nine miles down Trenton, New Jersey. The German troops we’re asleep after celebrating Christmas when they heard a musket fire! The Germans we’re completely surrounded by the American army. Washington’s small but brave army captured more than 900 prisoners that morning and killed about 100.
